After graduating with a degree in Literature from Ca’ Foscari University in Venice and an extended period studying and working in Britain, she attended the IFG in Urbino and later began working on the editorial staff of Uomini & Business as well as “Affari e Finanza” in la Repubblica. She then became a longtime correspondent, reporting from the Middle East, the Ukrainian-Polish border, Syrian refugee camps in Jordan, Lesbos, Idomeni, Melilla, Lampedusa, Sierra Leone, Malta, Claviere and in Budapest. She now hosts the program Images, the stories of the week, which airs on Radio 24 on Sundays and contributes to Il Foglio, Il Sole 24 Ore and Review.
She has written many nonfiction books, including Cento giorni che non torno. Storie di pazzia, di ribellione [I’ve been gone a hundred days: Stories of insanity, of rebellion] (Laterza, 2024), Noi schiavisti. Come siamo diventati complici dello sfruttamento di massa [We slavers: How we became complicit in mass exploitation] (Laterza, 2021), L’industria della carità [The charity industry] (Chiarelettere, 2013) and Si fa presto a dire madre [We learn to say mother quickly] (Melampo, 2010).
