Born in 1989 in Cinquefrondi, a province of Reggio Calabria, Maisano grew up in Arezzo. After high school graduation, he and his best friend decided to travel to Nepal, and he hasn’t stood still ever since. Although Maisano enrolled in law school in Rome, he decided to move to Morocco soon after, staying for over a year and learning Arabic. He spent the next four years traveling the Middle East, a place that captured his heart and mind.

He soon began writing about his travels to Israel, Lebanon, Jordan and Kosovo for The Post Internazionale. In 2014, he co-founded the online magazine Inkorsivo with a group of friends. That same year, he also worked on a documentary in Iraq for the British agency Journeyman Pictures. In early 2015 he finally graduated from college, but a career in law was not his calling.

Instead, he decided to move to Milan and began collaborating permanently with Giornale.it on the project “The Eyes of War,” reporting on Iraq, Kurdistan, and Turkey. In 2015, he was an envoy for Le Iene, reporting from Libya, Kurdistan, the Philippines and Syria. In 2017, he moved to Nemo on Rai2, once again as a correspondent but this time reporting on the United States and South America. In 2019, he began a new adventure with Enrico Lucci for Rai2 as a correspondent for the program Realiti. Since 2019, he has been producer and host of the program Piacere Maisano on TV8.

In 2022, he wrote three podcasts for OnePodcast: “The Italian Job”, “I Will Survive” and “Phantom: The Unabomber Case”, which in November 2022 led to the reopening of the case for the first time since 2009.
