Born in 1958, Frittella was a longtime political journalist for RAI’s Gr2 (1987-1993) and Tg1 (from 1993 to 2022). He has worked as a former parliamentary press officer, a special correspondent, the head of Tg1’s Political Reporting, and political commentator: covering for 35 years the activities of the President of the Italian Republic, multiple presidents of the Council, Italian Parliament and its parties.
Frittella hosted Tg1 from 2000 to 2022 and was an anchor for special and breaking reports on major political, institutional, and electoral events. He was in Berlin for Gr2 in the winter of 1989 and led television reporting on the Bataclan massacre, one of the longest editions in RAI history. He also anchored the daily morning news program Unomattina for two seasons.
An adjunct professor of political and television journalism at the University of Tor Vergata from 2007 to 2017 and a lecturer at its law school’s Master of Institutional Communication program, he has also taught at the School of Radio and Television Journalism in Perugia.
His nonfiction book Italia Green, viaggio nelle eccellenze del made in Italy ambientale [Green Italy: Journey into Made in Italy’s Environmental Achievements (RAI Libri, 2020) is an exploration of environmental issues. In L’Oro d’Italia [Italy’s Gold] (RAI Libri 2022), he turns his gaze to the protection and enhancement of Italy’s cultural and artistic heritage.
Frittella moderates events dedicated to geopolitical issues, technological and scientific innovation, the reality of businesses and “Made in Italy”, environmental and energy transition, agriculture, and Italy’s cultural and natural heritage.
