Born in Turkey in 1973 and with a degree in law, Ece Temelkuran wrote several books, including Turkey: The Insane and the Melancholy (2018) that won the Ambassador Of New Europe Award, and Women Who Blow On Knots (2019) that won the Edinburgh International Book Festival First Book award.

She is also the author of the internationally acknowledged book How to Lose a Country. The 7 Steps from Democracy to Dictatorship (2019). Her latest book is Together.

Her journalistic work also appeared in the main international newspapers, among which the Guardian, the New York Times, New Statesman, Frankfurter Allgemeine, Le Monde Diplomatique, Internazionale, and Der Spiegel.

Native Turkish speaker, she speaks English and French fluently
