His professional career began with Giovanni Minoli’s Mixer, and later he worked with Michele Santoro and Carlo Freccero at Rai 2.
In 1998 he joined TG1 as a Foreign Affairs and Special Events correspondent, following the Iraq war at great length, and later the war in Afghanistan. He has won numerous prizes for his work as a reporter.
Since 2013 he has been presenting Petrolio, an in-depth current affairs programme broadcast on Rai 1 which deals with searching, analyzing and valorising the riches that Italy possesses, that is, the artistic and cultural treasures, the entrepreneurial skills and the talents that are just waiting to be “extracted” as if they were oil, Italy’s black gold.
Giammaria is often invited to give speeches or act as a moderator for business or public events which focus on international situations, energy, the environment and current affairs in general.
