Massimo Polidoro is a journalist and writer. He is one of the leading international experts in the field of mysteries and unexplained phenomena.
He was the co-founder, together with Piero Angela, Margherita Hack and Umberto Eco of CICAP (Italian Committee for the control of pseudo-scientific affermations), and is currently the Secretary of the organisation. He graduated with a Psychology degree from the University of Padua. From 2004 to 2007 he held the first and only university course on “the Psychology of the Unexplained” at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Milan-Bicocca. Thanks to a scholarship sponsored by Piero Angela, he was the student and apprentice of James Randi, a famous illusionist and the most famous “mystery investigator” in history. He is a Fellow at the American Center for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI) and is often invited to meetings and seminars in the United States.
He is the author of more than forty books, all published by Mondadori and Piemme, as well as hundreds of articles. For ages, he has written for the monthly magazine Focus and also has a regular column in the American magazine The Skeptical Inquirer. Some of his latest publications include: Enigmi e misteri della storia, I poteri della mente: realtà o illusione?, Indagine sulla vita eterna and L’avventura del Colosseo. He also writes children’s books, with a series entitled “Squadra dell’impossibile” and the bestseller Il tesoro dei Leonardo, as well as thrillers, such as Il passato è una bestia feroce, which won the NebbiaGialla Prize, and Non guardare nell’abisso.
He is a writer and presenter for numerous television programmes, including Eva. Lo spettacolo della scienza (Raidue), Legend Detectives (Discovery Channel), I misteri di Indiana Jones (Studio Universal), as well as collaborating with Superquark (Raiuno). He is also a regular expert and opinionist on programmes such as La strada dei miracoli and La settima porta (both on Rete4) and together with Federico Taddia he presented Big Bang! Un viaggio nei misteri (DeAKids).
Massimo Polidoro takes part in science communication conferences ranging from the psychology of unexplained and paranormal phenomena to stories of historical events and artistic treasures. He presents events in the fields of science, science communication or mysteries, as well as seminars, workshops and business presentations.
