They are two leading Italian journalists specialised in music reviews; over the past few years they have also been working as TV hosts and theatre performers.
Ernesto Assante and Gino Castaldo are the two music critics at La Repubblica; since 2005 they have also been working in the theatre with Lezioni di rock, while since 2001, on Radio Capital – on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 pm – they have been hosting Playlist. More recently they have also become TV personalities, thanks to their programme called WebNotte, which is a stylish talk-show on music as well as the first experiment in social music, broadcast on Tuesday evening on Repubblica.it; also, during the past few seasons, they have been narrating the history of rock during Fabio Fazio’s TV show.
Ernesto Assante writes for La Repubblica and L’Espresso. He has authored several music criticism books. During his thirty-year career he has worked for a number of Italian and foreign weekly and monthly publications, including Epoca, L’Espresso and Rolling Stone. From 2003 to 2009 he taught “New media theory and technique”, then “Musical language analysis”, at the Communication Science faculty of La Sapienza University in Rome.
Gino Castaldo writes about music criticism, music dissemination and radio show hosting. He works for La Repubblica, a newspaper for which he has edited the weekly feature «Musica»; he has hosted shows for Radio3 Rai together with Filippo Bianchi (music critic and populariser, cultural event organizer and professional, then editor of Musica Jazz, the well-established specialised magazine).
Elastica organises their schedule as speakers at both public events and corporate conventions. Moreover it produces two of their formats: Lezioni di rock and Web Notte.
