In a hidden corner of the Orient, nestled amongst the distant mountains of Japan, there live black bears that are truly special: on their breast glows a white half-moon. It is said that they are protected by the spirit of the mountain, Kim-un-Kamui. This is the story of Yuro, a cub of the Bears of the Crescent Moon, and his unexpected encounter with Emil, a boy who lives in a village on the edge of the forest. Yuro and Emil are united by a difficult fate: both are orphans. But life, with the help of winter and snow, has something special in store for them.

Thanks to their mutual empathy, together they learn how to overcome the fear and misunderstanding that have always plagued the relationship between people and bears.
