Life has allowed me to be a privileged spectator and protagonist of my time. I believe that giving back what life has given you is a duty, to nurture memory, an essential form of civil conscience.
I would like that, through a path strongly marked by the value of feeling, we could reconstruct, decade by decade, what happened to us. We will do this with words, a tool whose power we often underestimate, and through the evocative power of stimuli derived from our ‘pop’ experience: films, television, advertising, music

Walter Veltroni

Walter Veltroni is the protagonist of this particular project that sees him, as a narrator, take us through our most recent past, allowing us to relive the historical period spanning from the 1960s to the 2000s. An emotional journey of conscience decade by decade.

How have we changed over this period of time? And how did we arrive to today?

The 1960s, with the election of Kennedy, the music of Gianni Morandi and the Beatles, the miniskirt, collectible figurines, hair always getting longer, the first adventures in space and the man on the moon, the assassination of the two Kennedys and Martin Luther King, Vietnam, the Florence flood, 1968, hippie culture. All our lives were, in that decade, subjected to an incredible acceleration. Everything changed in ten years. The way of dressing, of loving each other, of being children and parents, of thinking about politics and life.

And beginning from a decade that opened smilingly with Gagarin, John XXIII, the tune of Gino Paoli’s ‘Sapore di Sale’ and with the highway that unified the country, and closed with the bombing of Piazza Fontana, Walter Veltroni guides us through the events of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, up to the disaster of the Twin Towers.

With his skill as a storyteller, he reconstructs, through the use of news coverage and the onstage presence of original objects, symbols of those years, music, newspapers, period images, unpublished videos – an active part of the set design –, the meaning of this passage that led us to the present day.

A sentimental tale, made up of personal memories and madeleines, which directly involves each of us.
