For five days the centre of Forte dei Marmi was transformed into a fortress of Italian satire, with the first edition of the Festival of Political Satire, directed by Beppe Cottafavi, which brought together some of the key figures of the art of desecration in the heart of the Versilia area of Tuscany.
Satirical stars ranging from Elio to Rocco Tanica, to Makkox and Luca Bottura, from Ascanio Celestini to Stefano Massini, as well as Le Coliche, Filippo Ceccarelli, Guido Conti and Pinuccio followed one another onto the stages in Piazza Garibaldi and Villa Bertelli during the festival which aimed to highlight that satire and teasing are still very much needed in today’s society.
The Festival came to an end with an evening dedicated to the Political Satire Awards, now in their 47th edition, which had an incredible jury this year, including Serena Dandini and Lilli Gruber, Andrea Zalone, Stefano Andreoli, Pasquale Chessa, Fabio Genovesi, Beppe Cottafavi, and the Mayor of Forte dei Marmi, Bruno Murzi. There were prizes for the artists who, from newspapers to the theatre, from music to the internet, have portrayed current events in a sacrilegious and irreverent way, including a Lifetime Achievement Award for Corrado Guzzanti, as well as prizes for The Jackal, Sabina Guzzanti and Isabella Ragonese, Fabio Celenza, Enzo Savastano, Gero Arnone and Gipi, Zuzu, Francesco De Carlo and Giacomo Papi.
Elastica dealt with communication, from the management of the national and local press office to the social media channels (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter), as well as offering consultancy and support for staff during the organisation of the event.
