“Bologna, All They Say About Her” is a multimedia experience created by Elastica, breathing life into quotes from great authors collected in the literary guide Bologna: Cosa Dicono Di Lei, published by Elleboro.

The exhibition, which ran from November 13 to January 30, 2022 at the Museo Civico Archeologico of Bologna, combined audio and images of iconic places in Bologna described by writers who lived there or visited. Celebrated cultural figures, including Samuele Bersani, Alessandro Haber, Neri Marcorè, Veronica Pivetti, and Carla Signoris, are the voices of Dante, Goethe, Byron, Hesse, Melville, Dickens, Madame De Stael, Stendhal, Ruskin and many other Italian and foreign authors who have written about Bologna over the centuries.

“Bologna, All They Say About Her” is as multisensory as a visit to the city: listening to the city is as important as seeing it. A mobile app specially created for the exhibition functions as a digital audio guide, accompanying visitors through rooms and video installations that recreate the atmosphere and places of Bologna. The guide reproduces the sounds of the city, music from its past, and the narrative voices of canonical authors. Using cutting-edge technology that uses sound frequencies to detect proximity, this groundbreaking museum experience is unlike any other in Italy.
