Where and when

Livorno, May 2025

press release

The third edition of the festival – original format by Elastica – has moved to the seaside, in the charming setting of the Terrazza Mascagni and Livorno Aquarium, embracing with its surreal and irreverent spirit the first edition of “Blu Livorno – the Sea and Water Biennale”. Novelties brought new blood and an even more diverse audience to the festival.

The theme of 2025: “As though it were woke”. Under the artistic direction of Luca Bottura, the festival has intelligently and ironically engaged with the concept of “woke”, a word misunderstood as much as it is invoked, perfect for being turned on its head with a grin.

From Charlie Hebdo 10 years after the attack to Enrico Bertolino, from Ghemon to Fumettibrutti, up to the emerging voices of stand-up and guests from the worlds of culture and literature – Francesco De Carlo, Giulia Vecchio, Emanuela Cappello, Daniele Fabbri, Michele Basile (AKA Pippoland); and Ubaldo Pantani, Laura Pusceddu, Monir Ghassem, Toni Bonji, Valeria Parrella, Federica Cacciola, Marianna Aprile and ZELIG LAB, a bonafide comedy crew under the helm of Davide Paniate – Antani 2025 was intended, from its contents to its cast, to unite different generations, languages and sensibilities. And as always, to do so through laughter.

This year, Elastica once again provided content and communication, organisation and production. Between cheeky quizzes on current affairs, live radio, stand-up comedy, readings, panels and the Antani Awards, which are attended in ever-larger numbers, the festival established its identity: crowd-pleasing but never banal, making people laugh (a lot) and think (even more).

The Festival is sponsored by the Fondazione Livorno in partnership with the City of Livorno and under the patronage of the Region of Tuscany.
