After the great success of the first edition – three days of sold-out events in May last year – Fondazione Livorno has repeated its trust in Luca Bottura for the artistic direction and in Elastica for the content, production and communication of the second edition of the Livorno Comedy Festival, the most theatrical event in recent years and the first and only comedy festival in Italy.

First-class guests and a rich program of shows, panels, satirical press reviews, book presentations and the ‘Antani Awards’, all in Livorno in locations such as the Goldoni Theatre, the now famous ‘Goldonetta’ and other entertainment hubs in the heart of the city center.

The festival was opened by the superdirector Luca Bottura’s ‘La benedizione Urbi et Orban’, an out-and-out pre-show of satire to put the public into the ‘Antani’ swing. This was followed by Paolo Maggioni, Marina Viola and the great Cochi Ponzoni reveling in and laughingly recalling the Milan of yesteryear, and then the Paolo Jannacci Band’s ‘In concerto con Enzo’, which performed the Enzo Jannacci songs most dear to the public. And then the by-now tradition of the indoor press review, with journalists Alessandro Sallusti and Marianna Aprile talking about the news of the day with a satirical and intelligent slant, the broad overview of the new social frontiers of laughter 2.0 ‘Ride meme chi ride ultimo’ in the company of Filosofia Coatta, Hipster Democratici and Grazia Sambruna, ‘Il tour buonista’ by Massimiliano Loizzi (Terzo segreto di satira), the panel ‘Denominazione di origine inventata’ with Alberto Grandi and the winner of the last edition of Masterchef Eleonora Riso, plus the show ‘Secondo lei’ with Caterina Guzzanti.

Levity and improv for the Stand up Comedy Show in collaboration with The Comedy Club, which saw nine nationally renowned comedians take to the stage to challenge each other in an unmissable open mic. Entitled ‘Satire and dreams’ the panel tribute to Sergio Staino by Michele and Ilaria Staino and ‘Capaci di intendere e di volere’, the live show by Paolo Nori and Enrico Bronzi.

Also receiving the prestigious Antani Awards during the closing gala were Paola Cortellesi, Carlo Amleto, Brenda Lodigiani, Sigfrido Ranucci and Gianmarco Tognazzi.

‘Antani. Comedy and satire as if it were’ is a Fondazione Livorno project. The event is produced in collaboration with the City of Livorno and Teatro Goldoni and is sponsored by the Region of Tuscany.
